Multicultural Ministries Mission Statement Nazarene Multicultural Ministries is committed to helping the denomination become a racially just, culturally diverse, spiritually vibrant, and growing church in the U.S. and Canada, that gives expression to the richness of its faith, heritage, and experiences. It is a ministry that embraces the challenge of including all Nazarenes as partners in ministry at all levels of its corporate structure.
About Multicultural Ministries Our critical objective is to encourage the development of structures to include, empower, and increase the presence of language, cultural, and racial minorities in the life of the Church of the Nazarene. Here are a few of the ways this is accomplished:
- Strategy Committees
Members of the strategy committees are dedicated church leaders committed to reaching all people for Jesus and extending the Kingdom by starting new churches whenever possible. These committees have been formed not to divide the church into various sub-cultures, but to unite the church by recognizing and supporting minority leadership.
- Immigration Ministries
In cooperation with World Relief (the relief development and refugees assistance arm of the NAE), the Multicultural Ministries office can now provide resources to assist with issues related to citizenship, religious worker visas, and referrals to certified immigration counselors and attorneys.
- Diversity Leadership
Multicultural Ministries provides Diversity Leadership seminars and provides materials to help church leaders develop the skills needed to build an inclusive church in a multicultural society.
- Scholarship Fund
An endowment for the Minority Scholarship Fund continues to provide a source of financial assistance to minority students preparing for pastoral ministry in Nazarene institutions.
